It was so much fun to browse through the amazing selection of outdoor items on Hayneedle.com

It's getting so warm here now, it's apparent that Summer is upon us! In our home in the suburbs, we have a wide open backyard for the kids to play. Luckily for us the backyard was already outfitted with a huge wooden swing set/playhouse when we moved in (it is part of the reason we fell in love with the house...well the kids anyway :). The one thing that it didn't have, was a sandbox. The kids have grown very accustomed to sandboxes, as most of the playgrounds in NYC have one. I have been on the hunt for a good quality sandbox that wouldn't take me hours to assemble, and would last for years to come. Hayneedle had an amazing selection to choose from! I went with the Frame-It-All 8'x7'Sandbox (pictured above). It is made of durable "green" materials, and looked to be fairly easy to assemble. The Frame-It-All Hexagon 8'x7' Sandbox w/cover arrived quickly, in two packages. The assembly was EXTREMELY easy! It took about 30 minutes to put it together, and another 10 to fill it with sand. The cover (pictured below) is very well made, and fits snug on the sandbox, assuring that the sand stays clean and safe for the kids to play in. The kids are ecstatic to have a sandbox right in their own backyard! B has been building "sand buildings" (not to be confused with castles as mommy had)  and the princess loves to rake & dig and build pretty sand castles! I think they will be spending many happy hours in their new sandbox this summer!

    OVO is overflowing with contrasts. The hidden, secret world at our feet is revealed as tender and torrid, noisy and quiet, peaceful and chaotic. And as the sun rises on a bright new day the vibrant cycle of insect life begins anew."

Our Experience

We had the privilege to attend OVO by Cirque Du Soleil in Manhattan on Tuesday. The Cirque Du Soleil experience is certainly like no other! The show was presented Under their signature "Big Top".

The lights dimmed....and the show began! The night was filled with awe inspiring (at times jaw dropping) acrobatics, set to beautiful music that was delivered via live orchestra. OVO is a bustling demonstration of the Eco system; the amazing world that exists beneath our feet, and all around us!

      
 What we witnessed was beyond what your imagination could conjure! A man (bug) balanced on a curved pole(for an extended period of time), in a one hand, hand stand! Wait, theres MORE.... he then began to rotate (complete 360) on the pole (yes, still balanced on one hand)! OVO was the perfect blend of comedy, acrobatics, great music, and the costumes are absolutely gorgeous! We will difinitely look at the insect life around us a little differently now! What a great way to start the summer season off! Cirque Du Soleil has gone all out with this show! Family entertainment at it's FINEST!

OVO will be playing through June 6, 2010 at Randall's Island in NYC.

Our Experience with the Flo TV

I have had the privilege of experiencing the Flo TV for the past couple of days, and in one word, WOW! This device (PTV 350 Pictured Above) is very convenient, and just PURE FUN! I am back in the city this week, and with errands and event reviews we have been on the move constantly. As a parent who fights through the crowds of people with two little one's (often in a stroller) in NYC; occupying my children while in transit or in a store is an ongoing challenge. Yesterday, I went into a crowded market (really in the city, everything is crowded!) both children were in the stroller (I looked like a one woman circus! Juggling the basket and the stroller)....and the struggle continued. They wanted to get out; they wanted to buy everything they laid eyes on (I know this is a common problem with taking little ones in the store)! What did I do you ask? Flo TV to the rescue! I pulled the Flo TV PTV from my purse and turned the channel to Nickelodeon! My children peacefully watched their favorite programming throughout the store, while I completed my shopping.

As a part time New Yorker, I feel like I spend a major part of my life in transit.  Traveling from our home in the suburbs to the city, and waiting for public transport when I am here (no I do not like to brave the traffic~the subway is much easier in this whirlwind city). While my children are patient for their ages; they are still little, and have limits. Before these limits have been reached, I will now reach for the Flo TV PTV! My children can have fun while on the go, and maybe mommy will get to watch some of her favorite programing occasionally too:)!

What's next for Flo TV? Flo TV service will soon be made available on the  iPhone & iTouch!

                    Our Experience with the Boon Oval Animal Bag

My children were enthralled with the idea of the Boon Animal Bag at first glance (they had a look at it online before it arrived)! When it arrived the Animal Bag ignited a  flurry of excitement as it was pulled from the box! My children scurried off immediately to find every stuffed animal they could get their hands on so they could stuff this neat contraption.They enjoyed placing their furry friends in the bag, and loved that they could still see their best buddies through the various breathable mesh panels. Once the bag had been stuffed to it's capacity, they both took a dive to lay on the soft seat, they took turns sitting on it throughout the day ( another has already been requested by my son so that they can each have one). The stuffed animals are now serving two purposes (beloved furry friends to my children, and soft seat:);after they have been played with, they can return to the animal bag. My Experience with the Guy and Eva Spring Collection

I have now traveled a couple of times with the High Sierra Carry On Wheeled Business Upright. This bag is wonderful for short trips, and easily fits my families essentials for overnight getaways. The bag, though compact in it's appearance, has vast amounts of space in its seemingly never ending compartments! There is loads of space in this small wonder~just waiting to be filled for your next adventure! The first time I used it, I packed the large compartment first ( filled fast with a change of clothes for each of us) and then realized that the bag expanded to accommodate more with the front zipper! Upon unzipping all of the compartments of the bag I soon realized that there was a space created for everything you can imagine; a computer sleeve that accommodates up to a 17" laptop, spaces and pockets for ID, pen's, your cell phone, etc. When High Sierra Designed this bag, they truly thought of everything! The Tees themselves are great quality.The only thing that I would suggest, is measure for your size, I glanced at the chart and assumed my size was as it is when I shop in the store ( you know how most things are cut extremely small now?).                 My Experience with Delicate Soles

I chose the Onyx Delicate Soles for the review, as I new it would be the most versatile color to match my wardrobe. My amazement surely shown as I puled the delicate soles from a tiny box; though I knew that they roll, I was not aware that they become some incredibly compact! Unfortunately I have had sore feet a couple times over the past week. However, to my benefit, I had the delicate soles to rescue me from my high heel despair! I pulled the shoes from their cute carry bag, and ahhhh......relief to the discomfort caused by my pretty shoes (pretty but oh so uncomfortable by the end of the night). Simply slip your high heels in the additional bag provided with your delicate soles and place them in your purse (if you have a mommy sized bag like me), or carry they with the bags handle. Every women should own a pair of these sweet shoes! They come in a variety of colors as well ( I will be going back for the starlight silver~ how cute).

Our Experience

We had the incredible privilege of attending the Taylor Swift Fearless concert in Uniondale New York, at the Nassau Coliseum last night! The night began with the very talented acts; Gloriana & Kelly Pickler.

Then the curtain  lifted!

To the sound of thousands of screaming fans in a sold out stadium, Taylor Swift took to the stage!

She serenaded her starstruck audience with the well known tracks from her Fearless CD.  Presented with a refreshing dialogue in between songs. Taylor spoke to the audience about her relationships, life experiences, and her first guitar teacher. Taylor then explained; when she inquired about learning to play the 12 string Guitar, her teacher told her that her hands would always be too small to play the rare instrument.... she spoke as she strummed her beautiful 12 string guitar for the audience, with grace and precision. The lesson? Don't ever let someone tell you that you can't,  as she displayed so well, you can ! While we were very close to the stage you didn't  have to be to get an up close view of Taylor. She performed songs in varying locations in the stadium throughout the night.  After one song, the lights dimmed and while we  waiting for the next song...screams of delight erupted in a upper level seating area. Spotlights soon revealed Taylor standing amongst her fans. There to perform a song for them up close and personal! After the song She walked  through the crowd, ( hugging and thanking everyone for attending along the way) to another location also amidst fans and performed yet another song.

 B & L had an amazing night, and so did I. B left talking of his plans to learn how to play the 12 string guitar ( he already has a 6 string ) and marry Taylor Swift :), and the Princess was singing all the way to the car!

       With a genuine love for her fans that shines through in her performance, Taylor Swift  is a choice role model, teaching our children to aim for their highest goals and be FEARLESS!
