A Little Bit About the Joovy Nook Highchair & Our Experience

As most of you know I am the mother of two small children (1 toddler + 1 officially exiting the "toddler" stage). I, like many, have been through a number of booster seat's and highchair's to date. Note: this has not been by choice.  The seats that we have had either broke, or were too obtrusive for our space etc.. I recently had the privilege of reviewing the new Nook Highchair by Joovy, and I have to say this highchair is the perfect compilation of every mom's desired features in a highchair. I have walked around with a picture of the perfect highchair in my mind for years since B was born, but could never find exactly what I was looking for (how frustrating can that be?!). The Nook not only looks great ( thank you for making a chair that actually blends with my decor) and is function at it's finest. Set up, the Nook takes up a minimal amount of space and if desired the Nook can fold  down (and is very compact when folded see below image) when not in use.

   

No more juggling the highchair tray, baby, and baby's food (mom's I know you know this juggling act well)! Why? The tray swings out, and back easily without the need for detaching or sliding like most highchairs.

Peace of mind comes easily knowing that baby is safe and secure in the Nook with a five-point harness ( I haven't seen many highchairs that offer this feature). Cleanup is a breeze as well! What totally sealed the deal for me? The Leatherette wipes clean super fast, and what mom wouldn't love that? I am sure you'll be as pleased with the Nook as I am! This is a company that is all about family, safety, functionality, and great design....and it shines through in their products!

The Little Looster:A Booster For the Loo Review & Giveaway Ends 7/17

I recently had the opportunity to review The Little Looster, "A booster for the Loo". I was, and am amazed with the great design of this great new potty training aid. Though both of my children are now successfully potty trained, the princess is still rather short  and has to utilize a stool to step up to the toilet. She has often had a difficult time balancing; a problem that is completely solved with this generously sized (though still unobtrusive) potty "booster". My daughter also likes to use the Little Looster at our pedestal sink to wash her hands ( it wraps perfectly around the base of the sink allowing for better hand washing practices). There are so many challenges when potty training children and the dreaded "fall in" ( yes my son actually managed this on one occasion) can be traumatizing enough to halt the potty training process completely. This mom invented,  "booster for the loo" is wonderful, I highly recommend it for your potty training little one's or even for potty trained little one's that are still too short for the "big potty".

Our Experience with the Guidecraft Wooden Blocks & Block Cart

B was so excited when the blocks and block cart arrived! It only took a minute for me to unpack the blocks, and they were instantly being utilized to build tunnels and buildings for him to race his matchbox cars around and through. B loves to build and create, and this Block Cart also has a great chalkboard front for him to write on and incorporate with his building projects. The front panel lifts for easy un-loading and also makes for a quick clean up after we are done playing for the day (anything that helps us stay clean & organized while encouraging creativity is always welcome in my house)! I love that the cart is on caster wheels, as we can wheel it out into the middle of the playroom when emptiying the blocks for playtime, but it can quickly and easily roll to any area of the room without me having to lift up the heavey contents (another great plus) when we are finished!The Wooden Block Cart & Block Set is a HUGE hit in our house!
Guidecraft's durable quality construction is something I  have come to know and appreciate. I love it when I find a great family friendly company that cares about the quality of their merchandise, the consumer, and my children!

From Mom Jeans....To Marathon! Sponsored By Nutrisystem-WeeK 2

 

Here we are, another week down, and it has been a wonderful week! With each passing day I feel more empowered and confident! I was reflecting a little after weighing myself this morning; I cannot describe the way I feel in any way other than to say.... "I feel more like me". Since gaining the weight with my pregnancies I haven't felt like myself. Proud mom YES without any question! But pieces of my personality that make me who I am, have been on a extended stay elsewhere. I am normally a fairly confident (and admittedly a little loud :) person. Since I had my children and have been carrying around extra weight, my personality has shrunk back a bit. As I am shedding the pounds I feel like I am gaining pieces of myself back that have been M.I.A. for way too long!

I followed the Nutrisystem plan this week without any issue ( the food choices are delicious, and filled with more variety than I normally have in my diet, which is a nice change). Every night the  princess (in the jogging stroller)  and I have been going out for a nice jog(I'm now up to 7 miles daily). Along with my Nutrisystem plan, I have been adding daily servings of greens and fruit to maintain a nice balance.

I am so EXCITED to say that I lost a total of 4 pounds this week! My total weight loss for the two weeks that I have been on the Nutrisystem program is a whopping 8 and 1/2 pounds!

It's exhilarating to know that I am that much closer to achieving my ultimate goal! I WILL be Running the NYC Marathon to benefit the Standing Tall Organization on 11/7/10.... 26 Miles!

Browsing through the current styles available from Delta was so much fun. Not only do they have some amazing designs to match every one's tastes - the technology that Delta is working on is incredible. I have two toddler's.....need I say more? When it comes to cleaning, it's a daily race with up keep in this house. I vacuum every day, as the kid's without fail always have something mashed on the floor by the end of the day ( I really can't imagine what it would look like if I waited two days or a week?!). I always felt like I was a step behind with the cleaning, as the vacuum that I was using was not good on the hardwood floors- leaving me with two separate cleaning  challenges daily. Our Experience at Hershey Park

We had the privilege of experiencing Hershey Park this past weekend....and WOW what a sweet treat! With an abundance of rides, the boardwalk water park, and games galore there was not a dull moment to be had all day! B & the princess started by riding some of the smaller " Hershey miniatures" rides, as we gradually wound our way through the park to the Boardwalk. On our way we had the pleasure of catching a strolling performance from the Cocoa Rhythm Factory Traveling Percussion Band(pictured below)

Saturday was a little warm so the kid's happily cooled down on the Boardwalk (pictured below). On hot day's, there are plenty of shaded area's around the rides to stay cool, and for an extra cool treat, there is Dip n' Dot's, and Lemonade stands throughout the park. For a bit of history, fun, and a cool breeze, we rode the Hershey monorail which wound us through Hershey, and Zoo America.

         

We finished the day off with a visit to Chocolate World where we learned how Hershey's chocolate is made, and got a chance to taste some of the yummy treat's that Hershey makes at the end (Reese's are a FAVORITE in our house)!

There are so many thing's to experience in Hershey it really can be made into a weekly vacation. With an array of lodging options with the Hershey Hotel, Hershey Lodge, and Hershey Campgrounds - overnight & weekly adventures are just the ticket for unwinding and relaxing with your family.

With Old World charm and modern accommodations, Hershey offers something for everyone.

Joovy Zoom 360 Review

 

A Little Bit About the Joovy Zoom 360

The Joovy Zoom includes all of the high end features you would expect in a Joovy jogger. Made from 6061 aircraft grade aluminum and 600D fabric the Zoom is ready for tough duty. The suspension, with 3-inch travel, smoothes out the bumps and provides a comfortable ride for your little one while Joovy's signature oversized canopy provides the best sun protection available. You also get a neoprene parent organizer that holds 2 cups and has a zippered container, plus a rain/wind cover that's custom made for the Zoom. With plenty of storage in the easy access storage basket and mesh pockets, you can bring along all of your necessities.The Zoom 360 has a swivel front wheel for maximum maneuverability. The Zoom 360's swivel wheel can lock in a straight position providing a long, stable wheelbase when you run, or walk.

 My Experience with the Joovy Zoom 360

    I am now training for the New York City Marathon. When I started, I quickly realized how incredibly difficult this would be with my children. They are still little, and both are extremely attached to me; the hours needed to train seemed impossible. I have to jog /walk at the very least 6 miles daily, which requires around an hour every day. Taking an entire hour of time to myself?! This is almost impossible during weekdays given the long hours my husband keeps at work. My solution? The Joovy Zoom 360! Joovy was very kind to partner with me for my training, and provided this incredible stroller so that I can run with my daughter at night. Although my son will stay with my husband for long periods of time without issue - the princess is an entirely different story (were glued at the hip, or so it would seem :)! In the evenings I put her in the Zoom and we're off! I can take all the time I need; the smooth ride that the Zoom provides for my daughter usually rocks her to sleep.     

    The oversized canopy is appreciated, as are all of the little details that have not been overlooked in this jogger! Joovy has taken health into consideration by shielding children's delicate skin from the sun properly with the oversized canopy, provided ample storage space (my keys and phone fit in the secure zipper pouch in the included cup holder, and the basket is beyond spacious!), they even include a rain cover that fits the stroller properly. Most companies don't do this; all of these features are considered extras that require additional purchases. In today's economy, not only is this stroller the best choice, it's the most financially sound. With two kid's I have been through my fair share of stroller's, they break, they wear (food gets stuck in strange places, juice spills etc.) and we move on to the next one. It's obvious that this won't be an issue with the Zoom! This is a stroller that is built to last! Making me a lifetime customer! If I am to have another child I will not consider another brand, no questions asked.....Joovy! For future baby shower gifts? I will wow them with something great from this family company that can clearly be trusted with our most precious gifts~ our children.

Monday's June~October

Here we are, 1 week down in my five month journey to the NewYork City Marathon (sponsored by ING )! I am so incredibly excited to be running this year for the Standing Tall organization. This has been a long standing goal of mine, and I am proud to say that I have started my journey towards completing this monumental goal in just a few short months (November 7, 2010)! Nutrisystem has given me an incredible tool to help me achieve this with their customized food plan. Nutrisystem helps to provide the proper nutrition, and portion sizes making it easier to lose the weight, and keep it off ; by learning how to choose the proper foods and portion sizes.

Confession...

I still have "baby" weight that I have not successfully lost (the baby isn't a baby anymore, so there are no excuses :). When we found out that we were expecting our second child, I had only lost half of the weight from my first pregnancy. This made it twice as hard to lose the weight after I had my daughter. With an additional 30 pounds on top of the 30 pounds that I gained during my pregnancy with my daughter it seemed impossible. I could never quiet push past the plateau's to get rid of all the excess weight. With two children, and the demands of everyday life, I gave up more times than I'd like to admit (gaining the weight back every time). I know that many mom's have this issue (some lucky ones don't...oh how I wish I was you!) which doesn't make me feel so alone in this struggle.

How exciting is this?!

 I have been on the Nutrisystem program for 1 week now. Over the week, I followed the plan closely, and used the provided food journal to track what I am ate and when. I have also been walking/jogging 6 miles every day with my daughter in the jogging stroller.  By kicking up the exercise and following the Nutrisystem program I lost a total of 4 1/2  pounds this week!  I never felt left out at the table with my family during meal's! There is always a Nutrisystem food choice that is close to what they are eating, so I fit right in at the dinner table and I don't feel slighted. My favorite food choices with Nutrisystem so far is the thick crust pizza and the chocolate chip pudding! YUM! If I new it would be this easy and delicious I would have done this a long time ago!

What a great week...now just 36 pounds to go!

            Our Experience with the ZeroWater Picther My family drinks alot of water, and the city water that comes out of my tap is not served with confidence in my house. I usually offer bottled water of some sort, generally purchased by the gallon. On occasion when I do drink the tap water, it is full of chlorine with overpowering tastes (and smells). We recently had the opportunity to review the ZeroWater Pitcher. Upon receiving the ZeroWater pitcher I opened it right up, as I was curious to see if it would really work. With the included TDS meter & pitcher in hand I scurried off to the kitchen. I filled the picture by filling up a glass and pouring the water into the top reservoir.....but not before testing what came out of the tap first! I dipped the water meter into a glass of the tap water and was shocked to see that the water that is coming out of my tap tested at 169 with the TDS meter! While I was waiting for the water to filter through the ZeroWater Pitcher, out of curiosity I tested our bottled water (a popular name brand spring water). The bottled spring water tested at 64.  After about 10 minutes the Zero Water Pitcher had filtered a full pitcher of water. Going in it was 169.....filtered, it measured in at 000, just as it stated it would! ZeroWater tastes great, and has replaced my families use of bottled water completely. When I am going to be out and about I fill up our reusable water bottles with the built in tap on the pitcher, and we're set!
