My Experience

Winter has always been a blah time of year for me, except for the time that we spent living in a warmer climate, I tend to dread the season as a whole. I now strongly believe that it is in large part due to the "Winter Blues".  Because we spend so much time inside during the Winter, the lack of light exposure takes it's toll.

While the kids can easily transition from season to season without issue, I need a little extra help. After some research I learned about light therapy, and was both intrigued and interested to see if it would help me with my issue. After receiving the Verilux HappyLight 6000, there were a few things that stood out immediately. It's compact; at around a foot tall, the HappyLight 6000 easily fits on an end table or desk without taking up tons of space (unlike other brands that are much larger). With two settings, I can adjust the brightness slightly to my preferences (which is nice because sometimes I prefer it a little brighter).

For the past couple of weeks I have been sitting with the light on while I work on my computer for about an hour and a half each day (at about the same time every day), and since the very first day I can actually feel the benefits. I have a ton of energy, and don't feel the same sluggish effects of the Winter. By this time of year I usually put on a couple of extra pounds (not from eating more necessarily, just from sitting around)...this year I haven't had that problem. I haven't  felt the same Winter slump since I began using the HappyLight 6000.....instead I have more energy and am in a much better mood!

Our Experience

I'm always in search of great craft projects for the kids and I to do together, and even more so with the Winter in full swing (leaving us with tons of time on our hands to get creative indoors). I was excited by the concept of the all new Crunch Art Craft Kits by Little Kids Inc., and couldn't wait to see what the kids thought of them (bonus: they are mess free project kits, no cutting or gluing required! crafts without the mess? I was EXCITED).

We received both the Crunch Art Mega Set and the Crunch Art Frame Making Set, and both were loads of fun! I was concerned that it may be too difficult for the princess, and that maybe B would be the only one that could do it, however it was very easy, and we all had a great time! We started with the Mega Set; I laid out the "Crunch Art board" & tool, an assortment of fabric squares and let the kids pick a shape to "Crunch Art". The princess & B simply laid a fabric square on the foam shape (on the Crunch Art board) and pressed the plastic tool to "crunch" the fabric square. They repeated with multiple fabric squares in various colors, and both were so proud of the finished product, that we hung them up in the Playroom!

The next day we pulled out the Frame making kit for some more Crunch Art FUN, with the idea that we would put each of their pictures in the frames for family members as special handmade Holiday Gifts. Both the princess, and B made two Frames each and then we easily taped a picture on the frame insert/backing and attached it with the included plastic clips.

Both kits were so much fun and a wonderful way for the kids to get creative and use their imaginations! We are HUGE FANS of Crunch Art in our home, I know that we will be purchasing more of these wonderful craft kits for ourselves and as Gifts in the near future.

A great project.....without the mess! Wonderful Arts & Craft project to keep the kids busy on those cold Winter days!

Our Experience

Winter Wonderful! Winter Essentials Guide

Winter is here....It's OFFICIAL! We got buried in snow in the Northeast Part of the country the day after Christmas, and the temperatures that have lingered are bitter to say the very least (the wind chill was -6 degrees here yesterday.....BLAH!). So, now that it's here....how to deal?!

With two small children, and a whole lot of time on our hands....minus the option to go frolic and play outside for long periods of time (lazy days of summer COME BACK...I MISS YOU!) I have to now  masterfully put together projects, arts & crafts, games, and other activities to occupy the kiddies indoors (which I kinda love as I get to relive my childhood with some "old school" arts & crafts ;). Aside from putting up a trampoline in the play room (yup; it really is a great way for the kids to burn off energy so we have one inside too- don't worry it's just a small one and they are under supervision at all times when using it ;) there can be some challenges when it comes to burning off energy and occupying them constructively.

So.......I went in search of some Winter Essentials, that would help to make the Winter months productive, fun, and ultimately help mommy maintain her sanity ;). Our Experience

My kids aren't exactly adventurous eaters, they have a preference tendency to eat all things with their hands as well ( yes we taught them to use utensils ;) they just prefer finger foods .....I firmly believe all  younger children prefer to eat finger foods whenever possible! LC Premiums has made it easy to make the cutest little finger foods shaped like my children's absolute favorite characters from the Toy Story 3 movie!

With an extremely easy temperature dial, and an included book that shows you how long to cook different treats.....the Toy Story Tasty Baker is ready to go right out of the box! We started by baking little chocolate cakes. They came out wonderfully (the fast bake time is impressive)! We then spread a thin layer of icing between two matching characters and added some sprinkles to make little "cakewiches" (my son coined the word while we were assembling the treats:) They were a HUGE hit with the kids, so I decided to get creative! We made scrambled eggs with cheese in the Tasty Baker the next day, and they were just as popular! So far we've made the "cakewiches", eggs with cheese, cornbread, pancakes (perfect for dipping in syrup and a fast favorite with my little one's:), and stuffed crescent rolls ( I put the crescent roll in the tasty baker, and pushed a small piece of peperoni and a little cheese into the center....the kids dipped them in warm pizza sauce for a snack.....and LOVED THEM!).

Made by a mom who clearly knows the deal with picky eaters, the Toy Story 5-in-1 Tasty Baker is awesome! I would definitely recommend it to parents! The Toy Story 5-in-1 Tasty Baker would make a wonderful Holiday Gift!

Our Experience

Aren't these Sun & Moon Jars Fun?! We received the jars in both the yellow & blue color options and both absolutely mesmarized B and the Princess! The princess took the yellow ( she thinks that there's a fairy in the jar :)  and B took the Blue (hello! he's a Die hard METS fan...loves all things BLUE!) . The Sun & Moon Jars are super easy to operate. Simply open the jar upon arrival ad make sure that the internal switch is on, and place it in an area that gets lots of natural light during the day (which will charge the internal solar panel). The jars automatically turn on when the sun goes down.  Because there is no external button, or solar panel and the jar is frosted concealing the bulb.....the kids think that they're magic!

A Little Bit About the Grassy Lawn Charging Station

Simply run a standard extension cable into the bottom of the base, plug in all your power adapters, then snake the charging cables up through the grass. Voila! Your gadgets will think they're on a charging vacation.

Our Experience

I have the biggest peeve! I truly dislike all of the chargers we have accumulated in our house! Cell Phone Chargers (one for DH's regular cell phone, work cell phone, my cell phone....UGH!) the cord to charge the video camera, the camera battery charger......it goes on and on.....and ON! I found the perfect solution with the Grassy Lawn Charging Station! By simply running a cord to a power strip and plugging in all of my chargers (completely concealed under the "lawn" on the charging station), all I have to do is plug my devices in and let them hang out on the "Grassy Lawn" for a while, while they re-charge! A much more aesthetically pleasing alternative to all of the cords, I LOVE IT!

Our Caffeine molecule. Our Experience

The princess and B have been long time fans of Sesame Street, so I knew the princess would love the new Sesame Street: Elmo's to Zoo Adventure for Wii.....and I was right! She has been learning her ABC's for the past few months, and now were working on sounds that the letter's make and other fundamental basics so we can start to work on reading.....and this game is the perfect for adding some FUN into the learning process! She loves that Elmo is guiding her trough the game and the game is absolutely perfect for her age!

Elmo's A to Zoo Adventure offers so many different options for game play - each customizable to your child's level of learning. Wait! There's more! Not only does she have the opportunity to learn about the Alphabet and letter sounds; she has had a blast learning about different animals and their habitats! The included Elmo "remote helper" is not only adorable, it has helped her understand the Wii remote (or merote as she likes to call it.....ahh I love the toddler language ;) and the button functions better.

Our Experience

We had a wonderful time in NYC on Saturday as a family! We headed into the city for a day of fun that was topped off with a visit to see Donny & Marie: A Broadway Christmas! We spent the morning looking at the lights around the city, and we took the kiddo's to see Santa at the 34th Street Macy's (a visit to Santa Land at Macy's is a family tradition for us....we love to collect the buttons that Santa Hands out in our scrapbook).

Later on in the evening we headed over to our ultimate destination; Donny & Marie: A Broadway Christmas show at the Marquis Theater on Broadway. The size of the theater is absolutely perfect, and allows you to see the on stage action perfectly no matter where your seated! The show was reminiscent of their variety show, and was speckled with some lively tunes and Holiday Favorites. The princess enjoyed the music, and she had to resist standing up and dancing in her seat (mommy too!). It was the perfect way to kick off the Holidays with the family!
