A Little Bit About Disney's 70th Anniversary Edition Of Dumbo
Disney invites audiences to let their spirits soar with the release of the beloved animated classic Dumbo, for the first time ever in high definition as a 70th Anniversary Edition, available now on Blu-ray and DVD. Faced with the daunting task of restoring the film to its original pristine condition, the Walt Disney Studios Restoration Team turned to the US Library of Congress who store the original 70 year old nitrate camera negative in their film vaults, and for reference, to an original 1941 ‘release’ print, held by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). Using this rare nitrate “dye-transfer” Technicolor print for color reference, the team was able to restore Dumbo to the color settings most likely approved by Walt Disney himself, which will be seen in their full splendor for the first time in 70years, on the Blu-ray debut. In addition, the rare film print (housed as part of the UCLA Film and Television Archives collection) proved to be the earliest surviving generation of the original audio for Dumbo which provided a unique source from which to build the new Disney Enhanced Home Theatre (DEHT) mix for the Blu-ray release.
Released theatrically in 1941, Dumbo, Walt Disney’s fourth animated film, was an immediate success with audiences and critics alike. In addition to its Academy Award® for Best Music, Dumbo was also Oscar®-nominated for Best Song, for the haunting lullaby, “Baby Mine.”

My life has become a little hectic, to say the very least. But luckily I actually prefer the chaos to quiet! Regular reader's have heard me mention a time or two, that we live in an old (late 1800's) Colonial home. Even with all of it's charms, the wood floors (original) coupled with the cold Winter temperatures here in the Northeast part of the country, doesn't exactly add up to warm and cozy!

For me, there's nothing more enjoyable than sitting down to a delicious home cooked meal in the evening with my family. As I've learned over the year's, great cookware can make all the difference when it comes to preparing great food. In the past few year's, I've tried, and failed (miserably) to find the perfect nonstick cookware set. I've had more than one set, and the most recent set definitely looked worse for the wear. Because in reality, it wasn't really nonstick (trust me, many thing's did indeed stick!). Making one last attempt at finding a great long lasting nonstick set, I set off to research some of the current consumer brand favorites, and came across Calphalon.
Calphalon was a familiar brand. As an adult, I can still remember (vividly and fondly) accompanying my mother when I was a small child to a local department store, to purchase her first set of Calphalon Cookware (she was as giddy as a child on Christmas morning!). Sears Offers Back to School Fashion at Affordable Prices to Help Make This Year Amazing!
Nearly two-thirds of parents who responded to a new survey say they are inclined to spend more on apparel items, including jeans, tops and shoes, for this school year versus last year. Though they may spend more, parents will be using newspaper ads, circulars and loyalty programs to track down deals throughout the season, according to the joint survey by Sears and BlogHer, Inc. While the economic state of the nation continues to have an impact on spending—with the National Retail Federation finding that families will on average spend less on back-to-school shopping than last year According to NRF’s 2011 Back-to-School survey conducted by BIGresearch, families with children in grades K-12 will spend an average of $603.63 on apparel, school supplies and electronics, within a few dollars of last year’s $606.40 average. – the just-released survey indicates that what parents are looking for above all is value.
Highlights of the national survey of more than 700 respondents include:
More than 60 percent of moms surveyed claim cash is the number one form of spending for back-to-school items, followed by credit cards (28 percent) and checks (four percent).
Four out of 10 families will do most of their shopping right before school starts or after school is back in session, yet almost half (47 percent) are keeping an eye on all sales and specials throughout the summer.
While online shopping and mobile apps serve as useful tools for moms on the go, eight out of 10 parents (83 percent) will conduct their back-to-school shopping in-store, with more than 60 percent using circulars and 31 percent relying on loyalty programs to get the most out of their budgets.
Shopping for jeans is an enduring back-to-school tradition that we’ll continue to see, with almost one-third (31 percent) of respondents to the Sears/BlogHer survey, citing denim as a primary apparel item they would be inclined to spend more on. Furthermore, nearly half (46 percent) indicated that they would buy two to four pairs of jeans per child, while more than two-thirds (68 percent) of moms plan to keep costs down by spending less than $50 per pair.
“Especially during this tough economic climate, Sears remains committed to providing aspirational, affordable fashions,” said Dave Friedman, SVP and president of marketing, Sears Holdings. “This survey confirms the back-to-school trends we anticipated—that moms are savvier shoppers, now more than ever. That’s why our goal for back to school is to provide a wide selection of brands and styles to match every kid’s personality at prices families can afford.”
From jeans to hoodies to graphic tees, Sears has all the “in” styles to match every kid’s personality and every family’s budget, with fashion brands such as BONGO, American Star, Dickies and U.S. Polo Association. Sears also has the latest styles in denim, including super-stretchy jeans (jeggings) as well as designer details like ”bling” back pockets.
The survey also found that while the rising cost of school supplies remains an issue of concern, there are several other considerations that parents rate as worrisome, including:
Budget cuts, particularly to music and arts programs, were ranked as the top concern, with 27 percent of moms ranking that as their number one concern.
Lack of nutrition in cafeteria food came next, with 20 percent ranking it as their biggest concern.
Demanding homework load for kids came in behind these other economic and health-focused issues, with 19 percent naming it a top concern.

There's an abundance of technology available at our fingertips today! Though much different than when I was growing up, the sheer convenience that it all provides is undeniable! If you asked me 10 years ago how much I thought one could convey in 140 character's or less, I probably would have responded with, "not much!" or maybe an arrogant chuckle.None the less, as you all know.... Twitter is used daily, and isused by the masses for a multitude of purposes! As a quick and efficient marketing tool (hot topics on Twitter can spread far and wide in mere SECONDS!)
We were tired of seeing our children glued to their TV and computer screens and trying to think of ways to motivate our children to get up and get active. We decided that if children could convert their activity into points that could be redeemed for free stuff they might get motivated to turn off the tube, get off the couch and get outside to play. In a perfect world their treadmills would power their TV’s and Computers but that’s a whole other story!

Our Experience
Though both of our children are fairly active in the Summer months, they tend to become sedentary in the Fall and Winter Seasons.
