My Heart. My Life. - Why I'm Joining Team Jenny & Valerie Bertinelli For The AHA Wall Street Run & Heart Walk

Fact. Heart Disease has run rampant in my family. Sadly, it  has claimed the lives of many of my family members aged 65 and younger. Another fact. Heart Disease ranks high among my biggest fears.  As a mother, I naturally want to be there for my children every step of the way. For those huge milestone moments and all of the little moments in-between.

I have this looming fear though.

Since starting this blog, countless invites have landed in my inbox for events that have undoubtedly changed my life and have created memories that will last a lifetime. Though none quite as potentially life changing as an invitation that I received last week...

My health has been at the forefront of my mind lately. My children are getting older and I have factually [though this is very hard for me to admit] lost and gained the same 25-30 pounds,  5 times over, in the last 6 years. In all honesty - the only explanation that I have is: life happened. We've experienced the loss of siblings, parents and other daily struggles - that slowly detracted from the emphasis that we placed on living a healthy lifestyle in our home.

It's an issue that I wrestle with daily - and for obvious reasons. At the top of the list: my genetic predisposition to heart disease.

The invitation that I received last week couldn't have come at a better time. I am ready for a change - I have been for a while - I just needed a little push.

On Thursday, May 30th I am joining Team Jenny & Valerie Bertinelli [ Hot In Cleveland ] For The American Heart Association’s (AHA) Wall Street Run & Heart Walk - to begin my journey back to a healthy lifestyle. For myself and for my family.

Keep an eye out for more on my experience at the American Heart Association’s (AHA) Wall Street Run & Heart Walk and for my thoughts/experience with the the Jenny Craig weight loss program over the next few weeks.

My sincerest thanks to Jenny Craig for this opportunity.
