How To Make Simple & Sweet Snowman And Reindeer Holiday Cookie Bouquets Nutter Butter One Savvy Mom onesavvymom tutorial
It's here! The holiday season is officially upon us, and it's time to start thinking about thoughtful gifts and tokens for all of those special people in your life.

I really love the holidays. I go a little crazy with it, in all honesty. But it's so much fun!  I'm pretty all inclusive with my gifting too. I like to acknowledge the kids' teachers for all that they do, our mailman, my hairdresser, etc. The list pretty much goes on and on!

It can be hard to know just what to buy when you're looking for a gift for someone you're not especially close to though. This year, I'm making everyone simple and sweet reindeer and snowmen chocolate covered cookie bouquets. Aren't they cute?

It was incredibly easy to assemble a large quantity of chocolate covered reindeer and snowman cookie pops using Nutter Butter Rounds, Nutter Butters, and other simple supplies. It took me about an hour  to cover the cookies in chocolate, cool them, decorate them, and wrap them individually. Once the cookies were all wrapped, I assembled them in bouquets (with 6-8 cookies in each) in seasonal mugs and tied small bags of hot chocolate to the handles.

Check out the supply list and my step by step tutorial below.

Reindeer Nutter Butter Cookie Pops:

  • microwavable glass bowl
  • spoon
  • cookie sheet
  • wax paper
  • 20 lollipop sticks
  • toothpicks (to draw on your reindeer eyes using the melted chocolate / candy wafers)
  • 20 Nutter Butter Cookies (classic peanut shaped)
  • 6 oz of milk chocolate candy wafers
  • 1 oz of black chocolate candy wafers
  • 40 mini-pretzels (to create antlers - 2 pretzels for each reindeer)
  • red candy coated chocolate pieces (to create reindeer nose)

Stir the chocolate with a spoon to ensure that it has melted evenly, and smooth.

Stick a lollipop stick into the center of each of your Nutter Butter cookies. If you have trouble getting the stick to stay in place, see my tip below.

TIP: If you have trouble affixing your Nutter Butter cookies to the lollipop sticks, carefully slide the top half of the cookie off, add a dab of melted modeling chocolate, place the stick in the chocolate, replace the other half of the cookie on top, and lay flat / allow to cool. Taking this added step ensures that the cookie will stay firmly in place on the lollipop stick when you're coating them in chocolate / candy coating.

Dip your cookie in the melted chocolate / candy coating. Rotate the cookie pop a few times to make sure that all of the excess chocolate / candy coating has run off.

Place the cookie pop on your wax paper lined cookie sheet to cool. You can place the tray in the refrigerator to speed the process up a bit.

Once cooled, it's time to decorate! Use the melted chocolate / candy coating to affix any garnishes that you are using, to make your snowmen. I used licorice string, festive candy coated chocolates and mini-marshmallows to make the snowmen some ear-warmers.

Use a toothpick or the end of a clean lollipop stick to "draw" the details on your snowmen. I melted down black and orange candy wafers to create the eyes, carrot nose, and mouth for each of my snowmen and the end of a toothpick.

The reindeer are constructed with the same outlined steps above, but with a few simple changes. You'll use milk chocolate candy/chocolate wafers in place of white chocolate, classic Nutter Butter (peanut shaped) cookies in place of the Nutter Butter rounds used for the snowmen, and there's an added step of affixing the pretzel "antlers".

To affix your reindeer antlers, lay all of your cooled chocolate covered Nutter Butters on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper (spaced about 2" apart). Next,  dip the bottom half of the mini-pretzels (two for each - one pretzel for each set of "antlers")  in melted chocolate / candy coating. Then press the coated surface of the pretzels firmly to either side of the "reindeer" Add a red candy coated chocolate for the nose, and two black eyes. I used black melted chocolate / candy wafers and the end of a tooth pick to "draw" on the eyes. See the images above and below, and refer to the step-by-step photo tutorial below for a more detailed view of how to assemble the reindeer cookie pops.

Allow adequate time for cooling / drying, then wrap each cookie pops individually, using cello-wrap or cello-treat bags and a piece of ribbon.

Gift your cookie pops as-is or assemble them in cute bouquets, in a festive holiday mug.

I assembled the pictured cookie bouquets by placing a small piece of wrapped Styrofoam inside each of the mugs. Then I simply arranged the cookie pops by pressing/affixing the end of the lollipop sticks into the Styrofoam. To conceal the Styrofoam, I fluffed a few pieces festive tissue paper around the cookie pops.

I'm so excited with how these reindeer and snowmen cookie bouquets turned out, and I can't wait to gift them!  I made a total of 6 cookie bouquets this time around, and I plan on making a few more as we get closer to the holiday.
