Embracing Imperfection + Simple Mom Hack For The Beach & Pool

Perfection.

This word doesn't even cross my mind when I think of parenting and motherhood. And I hope, for the sake of your sanity, you've omitted it from your parenting vocabulary too!

Before I had children, I may have briefly lusted after the notion of perfection. But motherhood quickly brought that runaway train to an abrupt {screeching} halt! Can I tell you a little secret though? Attempting the impossible gets old. Embracing imperfection is far more fun and attainable. And I'm all about setting attainable goals for myself!

Now, while I'm totally for embracing imperfection, I do like to keep the level of chaos at a minimum around here. What's chaos for us? A gallon of spilled milk on the floor - and me frantically grabbing for the last paper towel bits off the cardboard tube. You know, the remnants that get stuck to the glue on the tube? As if they could actually sop up a mess of that magnitude?! OR when someone heads to the bathroom only to realize that there isn't a single square of toilet paper in sight.

The kids were sick with a stomach virus a few weeks back, and I went through a pack of paper towels in a blink. I was desperately trying to clean up behind everyone and get a handle on the germs. It was a hard week, people. Really hard!

After everyone was {finally} on the mend, we all sat down to a calm {for us} celebratory Saturday brunch. Chaos ensued  shortly thereafter.  As my daughter tripped with a gallon of milk in her hand, the snap top popped off and before I knew it - milk was  E V E R Y W H E R E! As I reached for the empty paper towel tube, I had a tiny moment of panic. I hadn't made it to the store to  replenish anything yet. So, I had one of those mom moments where I began to mentally run down the list of absorbent materials in our home. Should I send them to grab my good bath towels? A beach towel? NO - the thought of sopping up milk with my towels was immediately off the table. Water or juice,  maybe. But milk? Gross! So what else did I have on hand .... what else .... DIAPERS! I sent my son running for a handful of diapers to sop up the mess. Not the perfect solution, but a solution none-the-less. Crisis averted.

Those disposable diapers soaked up the mess in no time flat! Everyone quickly resumed eating and chatting, and honestly? I felt like a genius super mom ninja for a few minutes - I was totally enthused about my quick-thinking! Then, I realized  the baby needed to be changed. And when I reached for a diaper, there wasn't a single one in sight.

These small OOPS moments happen far more frequently than I care to admit. And the chaos can detract BIG TIME, from the time that I spend with my family. Not to mention, trips to the store to stock up on bulky necessities such as diapers, paper towels, and toilet paper are about to get allot more difficult with a newborn.

So what's a girl to do? Shop online! It just makes SO MUCH SENSE to start buying online.

By shopping at www.avoidtheoops.com, I can stock up on all of my favorite P&G household essentials in one convenient place. With a few simple clicks, I'm all set. The site is extremely user friendly; everything is broken down into easy-to-browse categories such as "Shop Kitchen," "Shop Baby," "Shop Laundry," "Shop Bathroom," and "Shop Cleaning." Plus, as a total BONUS, if I hit the $50 mark on my order - shipping is FREE. So not only am I saving myself some valuable time (and my sanity in the long run!) - I'm also saving on the gas that I would normally use to go back and forth to the store. It's a complete no-brainer, and a total win-win!

Last week I stocked up on LUVS Diapers, Bounty Basics Paper Towels (that come in fun Disney Finding Dory Prints!), and Tide laundry detergent. I placed my order with Walmart.com (via avoidtheoops.com)  in the morning. It shipped the same day that afternoon; my order arrived on my doorstep 2 days later. The process was completely hassle-free.

As a busy mom, sometimes its necessary to delegate and find new ways to save time doing what I have to do, so I can spend more time doing what I want to do; which is making memories with my family. After all, at the end of the day, that's what it's all about!

Embrace the chaos and imperfection, people! One day when they're all grown and gone, we'll miss this season of life dearly.

P.S.
If you're headed to the beach or pool this summer with the kids, here's a fun {and valuable} tip / mom hack for you! Stash small valuables, your phone, cash, keys etc. in a plastic zip bag, place the bag in an unused diaper and roll up the diaper to make it look as though it's been used. Stash the diaper on top of your tote or diaper bag. Not even the savviest thieve will rummage through a used diaper!
