Meet McKenna Brooks, The American Girl 2012 Girl Of The Year! Girl's are sure to have ton's of fun getting to know this brand new American Girl this year through her two book collection "McKenna" and "McKenna Ready To Fly" (authored by Mary Casanova - Mary has also authored "Cecile", "Jess", "Chrissa", and "Chrissa Stands Strong" with American Girl  ), the gorgeous "18" McKenna Doll (pictured above) and a line of  corresponding fashions (for both dolls and girls) and accessories!  American Girl has also released a companion book "Take The Challenge" which includes fun exercises and activities designed to help girl's build self confidence in their own talents and abilities. Girls can also participate in the McKenna’s Take the Challenge! strength-finding quiz at americangirl.com/girloftheyear. Upon completion of the quiz, girls will discover their top 3 strengths out of a possible 8 categories. After completing 10 fun offline challenges that correspond to a particular strength category, girls will receive a trophy. For each trophy earned, American Girl will donate 25¢ (up to $50,000) to Save the Children’s U.S. Literacy Program.

The inspiring storyline of this American Girl teaches young girls to approach life with a fierce determination, to reach for their goals, and be the very best that they can be which is definitely a message that I can feel confident about promoting as a parent.

The celebration and fun surrounding the 2012 American Girl of the year, McKenna, will continue throughout the year!  McKenna fans can look forward to a variety of events at American Girl Place retail locations throughout the year, and an upcoming movie release (to DVD in 2012) following McKenna's storyline!

Meet McKenna, our 2012 Girl of the Year! She's a determined girl who uses her strengths to turn challenges into triumphs. The McKenna doll is
 18" tall, with brilliant blue eyes that open and close. She has long, caramel-colored hair that can be pulled high for gymnastics practice, or styled up in twists for a fancy occasion.

The McKenna doll comes in a sporty outfit just right for flips and twists:
-A sporty striped dress with flutter sleeves, a dropped waist, and a pleated skirt
-Teal leggings that stretch for the splits!
-Strappy slide-on shoes
-Purple cotton underwear
-A hairband, to sweep her hair back during gymnastics practice
