An American Girl McKenna Shoots For The Stars On Blu-ray & DVD - Screening Party + Medal Craft + Giveaway

The storyline of the American Girl of The Year (2012), McKenna, has come to life in a all new film! McKenna (played by Jade Pettyjohn) is an aspiring gymnast and is vying for a spot on the competitive team. When her school grades begin to suffer, McKenna struggles to ask for help. Only adding to her strife, McKenna gets injured while trying to complete a trick on the beam that her coach had warned her she wasn't ready for.

Much like the 2 books in her series, An American Girl McKenna Shoots For The Stars conveys several valuable life lessons throughout the film. Through her injury, McKenna learns to slow down; she also learns that everyone has to ask for help once in a while and finds a few new friends along the way.

In addition to all of the delicious food and cupcakes at our "Daughter & Doll"screening party we also did a fun (and simple) medal craft for the American Girl dolls.
Using the supplies listed below we glued one square of foil to both the front and back of our cardboard circles (cut to about the size of a quarter). After the glue had dried we cut the excess foil down. We then glued our red, white & Blue Craft Ribbon (cut to 14" in length) to the back of our medallions (you can reinforce with a small piece of tape over the ribbon after the glue has dried if desired). Next we had the kids use the edge of a penny to etch #1 into their medallions. Super cute, fun and quick craft for your American Girl dolls!
