I Did It! I Walked The 5K AHA Wall Street Run & Walk With Team Jenny and Valerie Bertinelli

I did it! I walked the AHA Wall Street 5K Walk - and it was an experience folks! I can honestly say that I wasn't prepared for the distance. Doesn't seem like much - 3.1 miles. But done in a [ahem!] crazy footwear choice, with only a week to semi-prepare? It kicked my backside! 

I accepted the invitation to walk the Wall Street 5K with Team Jenny without hesitation and without thinking of what it really meant. I walk - yes. It's even safe to say that I walk the streets of New York {on some days} at a pace that rivals a slow jogging pace for most Americans. But 3.1 miles [in sandals - I know, I know - OMG -WHAT WAS I THINKING?!] in all honesty, it was a challenge.

I finished in roughly 47 minutes. The clocks were a bit hard to follow, because they started when the first wave of runners set off- so it was a rough calculation.  I was in a back wave of walker's and the start pace was slow, understandably - due to the large crowd.

Thursday was a super fun experience, despite the hot and humid 90 + temperatures in NYC [and my footwear faux pas, of course].

I had the opportunity to meet and chat with Valerie Bertinelli {incredibly sweet and down to earth} of Hot in Cleveland, who is also an ambassador for Jenny Craig.

I can't wait to try out the Jenny Craig program - I did have the opportunity to sample some of the new snack offerings from Jenny Craig at the event [Black Bean Taco Chips and Kettle Corn] and both were pretty tasty!

I've set a goal of sorts for myself. Next year, I would like to return to the AHA Wall Street Run/Walk and RUN what I walked this year - as a more fit, healthier version of myself.
