How To Make Mixed Berry Tea Sorbet + A Dairy Free Sorbet Float That The Entire Family Will LOVE!

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Vintage Seltzer. All opinions are 100% mine.

Have you ever tried sorbet? I love this dairy-free cool dessert option for my family. It's a lower calorie / low-sugar option that my entire family can enjoy on a hot summer day.

While you can find it in most freezer sections at the grocery store, I love to make it at home and play around with the flavor combinations. Last weekend I made mixed berry tea sorbet, and it was a hit with the entire family.

I incorporated my homemade mixed berry tea sorbet in my own fun refreshing take on a soda float;  a dairy-free Sorbet Float. It was the perfect cool treat to enjoy in the backyard as the sun went down.

Want to know how you can make homemade sorbet too? Read on for the simple how-to + my recipe for mixed berry tea sorbet and dairy-free sorbet floats.

Mixed Berry Tea Sorbet Recipe

Recipe yields: About 4 cups
Serving Size: 1 cup
Prep time: About 10 minutes
Freeze time: Varies depending on ice-cream freezer manufacturer. Allow 2-3 hours (including 1 additional hour in freezer after sorbet is transferred to a freezer-safe container)

What you'll need:
  • An ice-cream freezer
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 4 tea bags of your choosing (we used English Breakfast tea in our sorbet- you could easily swap it out for green tea or black tea in this recipe)
  • 3/4 cup fresh lemon juice (about 4 average sized lemons)
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries
  • 1 cup ice water
How to:

Add tea bags to boiling water. Steep tea for 5-7 minutes. Discard tea bags. Add sugar and lemon juice - stir until sugar has dissolved completely. Set mixture aside until completely cool. Once your mixture has cooled completely, add frozen berry mixture to your food processor. Pulse until berries are blended / smooth in consistency. Combine tea mixture and berry mixture together in a large bowl; stir in 1 cup ice water. Pour mixture into the freezer can of an ice-cream freezer; freeze according to the manufacturers instructions. Once adequate time has passed, spoon sorbet into a freezer-safe container. Freeze 1 hour / until firm. Serve and enjoy!

I served my mixed berry tea sorbet in a fun {healthier} take on an old-fashioned soda float. The best part is, everyone, including those with an intolerance to dairy products / vegans can enjoy these delicious dairy-free sorbet floats! They're the perfect cool treat on a hot summer day.

Vintage Seltzer ®, is New York’s favorite line of seltzer water. I love that their seltzer is made with natural flavors, and that it's sugar-free / free of artificial sweeteners. We think that their three new limited-edition summer flavors  - Blueberry, Pineapple and Peach Mango (available through July 31, 2016)  – are the perfect compliment to the flavors in our dairy-free sorbet floats. For the pictured floats I used Vintage's limited edition blueberry flavor which pairs perfectly with the flavors in the mixed berry tea sorbet.

These sorbet floats have definitely become a fast favorite dessert option in our home!
