Easy DIY Gradient Rainbow Yarn Hoop Wall Art

This gradient yarn rainbow embroidery hoop wall art is so easy to make, and SO incredibly cute! If you're on the hunt for some super easy DIY Rainbow room décor for a nursery, a toddler's room, a kid's room, a tween's room, or even a playroom, this is definitely it. It's a colorful burst of rainbow happiness that will brighten up just about any space that it's added to, friends!

I used a big 12" embroidery hoop to make the pictured rainbow hoop wall art.  You could easily make a smaller version with a mini embroidery hoop though,  or a larger version with a bigger embroidery hoop OR you could even use a hula-hoop to make a giant version of this rainbow hoop wall art! Whatever size fits your particular space.

Easy DIY Gradient Yarn Rainbow Hoop Wall Art How-To

What you'll need:
  • Small sharp scissors
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • Embroidery hoop or hula-hoop (choose the size that fits your space best - I used a 12" embroidery hoop for the pictured completed project - which rang in at about $3 at A.C. Moore.)
  • Gradient rainbow yarn
  • White yarn

 How to:
  1. Wrap the perimeter of the embroidery hoop with rainbow gradient yarn (in solid color sections working your way from mid left to mid right on the embroidery hoop / hoop.) To finish the yarn off, simply snip the end and affix it to the hoop with a small dab of hot glue.
  2. Next make several white pom-pom's ( in various sizes) using the white yarn (I used 10.) Gather the yarn in small / medium / large bundles (refer to imagery below) using your fingers / hand to wrap each bundle.
  3. Now, snip a 6" piece of white string for each bundle. Tie each bundle off at the center (tightly) using the 6" pieces of string.
  4. Next, sever the loops of yarn on each end of the bundle(s) (refer to imagery below.)
  5. Trim and shape each bundle to your preference until they create a pom-pom (refer to imagery below.
  6. Use a generous dab of hot glue to affix each pom-pom at the base of the yarn rainbow (on either side of the hoop - in clusters ) to create the look of clouds.
  7. To hang: thread a piece of yarn (or a ribbon if you prefer ) under the hoop screw and tie the ends off at the top (in a slip knot) to create a hanger OR simply hang it using the hoop screw as a hook.
