4th of July Kids Craft - Patriotic Flag Hand-Print T-Shirt

We are loving the warmer temperatures that we've been having here in the Northeast part of the country. It's such a great feeling to get out and about with the kids after the long {harsh} winter! Over the weekend we took full advantage of the sunshine and planted flowers and a container vegetable garden - we also did a few simple crafts.

My daughter had a blast making this Patriotic Flag Hand-print T-Shirt, and she can't wait to wear it to the 4th of July parade & fireworks in a few weeks! It only takes about 30 minutes + all-in, it only costs about $5 to make. So, it's a fairly frugal craft too {which I love}!

What you will need:

  • Paint brush
  • Piece of cardboard {to slide inside of the shirt - it keeps paint from running through to back of shirt}
  • White washable crayon
  • Cup of water to rinse brush
  • Baby wipes or wet paper towels {to wipe paint off hands}
  • Red, white, and blue Puffy Paint {.75 c each at Walmart}
  • Tank or T-Shirt  in grey or blue - {we found the above navy girls tank at Walmart for $3}
How to:

  • Slide the cardboard inside of the shirt - it keeps the paint from running through to back of shirt.
  • Use white washable crayon to draw a large heart in the center of shirt {large enough for both hand prints}.
  • Squirt some of each color of puffy paint out onto paper plate.
  • Use paint brush to spread blue paint on palms of hands. Next, use paintbrush to spread red and white paint on alternating fingers.
  • Press hands down onto shirt (making sure thumbs come together to form a heart {see above image}.
  • Use  red Puffy paint to fill in the heart {see above image}.
  • Use white Puffy paint to add stars to the hand-prints{see above image}
  • Use remaining red, white, and blue Puffy Paint to make the large outer heart outline (following the original white crayon outline)+ add USA{see above image} or other desired designs.
Happy Crafting!
